Also safe for use with newborns this herb bath can aid in drying up your new baby's cord and provide a natural and soothing environment for mother-baby bonding time after birth.
When you brew your Herbal Afterbirth Bath is brewed and added to bathtub water, it turns the water a dark yellow/brown color and smells amazing! The smell is really lovely. An ingredient list and preparation instructions are on the package.
The herbal bath is therapeutic for mother/baby bonding, aromatherapy, reducing perineal swelling, healing perineal lacerations, and also helping with hemorrhoids.
Ingredients
- Comfrey Leaf
- Lavender Flowers
- Shepherd's Purse
- Uva Ursi Leaves
- Plantain leaf
- Red Raspberry Leaves
- Yarrow flowers
- Salt
12 ounces by weight.
Suggested directions
Place 1 cup of herbs in 2 qts. of boiling water and remove from heat. Let herbs steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain and add to additional bath water in a tub being careful not to over dilute. Baby & Mom should soak for at least 20 minutes to allow healing to cord and perineum. Makes 3-4 baths.
Safety
Herbal baths are safe for use a few hours after birth through an indefinite period. Circumstances where using the herbal bath would not be safe would be in the case of a large amount of postpartum blood loss, particularly where the mother is still faint and weak; the heat of the warm bath water can cause complications (obviously if this is the situation, the mother's care provider will likely still be present and dictating care). The only other contraindication for use would be if the mother has an allergy to one of the herbs in the bath mix. The most common allergy (though still very rare) that clients have to this bath is lavender.
This is an In His Hands' special recipe which we blend ourselves. This product is not returnable.

Excellent way to relax and bond with baby. Herbs are healing. I feel these are a must have for the first week or two after baby arrives.

Herbal after birth bath
I've had 6 babies, and have tried baths from Amazon that are of lesser quality. This is my go to after birth bath! Quickly heals my peprineum, and heals baby's umbilical cord stump too. Thank you so much for this product!

Herbal bath
Seriously this stuff is incredible! I get a bag for every one I know who's about to have a baby!! I used this right after the birth of my daughter and a few times with her and alone the weeks following. I felt normal "down there" i swear the day after I had her (9lbs and 21" btw). Was no where near that when I had my son years ago. Thank you so much for this product!!!

herbal afterbirth bath
I LOVE this product!! It is so relaxing and really helps ease soreness, bruising and any other injuries. I recommend this to friends a lot and always make sure I have at least one bag on hand after each birth. It's simply wonderful!

Best herbal bath, ever!
I LOVED using this product after having my daughter. It was so nice to sit and soak in something the both smelled yummy, and also made my lady-bits feel soothed. I had 2nd degree tears, and I truly believe that using this bath helped me heal easier, and quicker. I recommend this to all of my friends and doula clients!

Herbal bath
Was skeptical about the herbal bath actually benefitting me but considering this was my first natural birth I gave it a try. Boy am I happy I did! I have only soaked once so far and it did my bottom justice, it helped with tenderness and swelling, and to top it off my baby's cord healed in 3 days(this may be the norm but this is my third baby and my previous two cords took a week if not a little longer)

Herbal bath
It's amazing, I didn't use any of the numbing sprays or icebacks bc this was all I needed after my second child, can't wait to use it this time around and it smells like heaven

LOVE!
A friend of mine gave me her leftover bath herbs for my third birth (first homebirth). I had never used anything like this, and wasn't sure if I would. I became very depressed after giving birth and while this bath isn't a cure, it really helped me to feel nurtured for a little while. I took the herbal baths with my baby and for a while each day, my sadness and troubles stepped aside and I just felt safe and warm and close to my baby. I have ordered them again to use after giving birth to baby #4 soon. Honestly, they smell so good (not overwhelming, just soothing) I might keep them on-hand from now on! I also think they would be good for after exercise or any hard day.
