The herbal bath is therapeutic for mother/baby bonding, aromatherapy, reducing perineal swelling, healing perineal lacerations, and also helping with hemorrhoids.

Ingredients

  • Comfrey Leaf
  • Lavender Flowers
  • Shepherd's Purse
  • Uva Ursi Leaves
  • Plantain leaf
  • Red Raspberry Leaves
  • Yarrow flowers
  • Salt

12 ounces by weight.

Suggested directions

Place 1 cup of herbs in 2 qts. of boiling water and remove from heat. Let herbs steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain and add to additional bath water in a tub being careful not to over dilute. Baby & Mom should soak for at least 20 minutes to allow healing to cord and perineum. Makes 3-4 baths.

Safety

Herbal baths are safe for use a few hours after birth through an indefinite period. Circumstances where using the herbal bath would not be safe would be in the case of a large amount of postpartum blood loss, particularly where the mother is still faint and weak; the heat of the warm bath water can cause complications (obviously if this is the situation, the mother's care provider will likely still be present and dictating care). The only other contraindication for use would be if the mother has an allergy to one of the herbs in the bath mix. The most common allergy (though still very rare) that clients have to this bath is lavender.

This is an In His Hands' special recipe which we blend ourselves. This product is not returnable.

    Good

Could have come in large tea bags so you don't have to strain it everytime. It will clog drain. Other than that it was great.

    Postpartum Care Essential

I'm not sure if this is advisable if you've had a C-section, but I highly recommend this blend for postpartum care. My midwife suggested steeping the whole bag in the slow-cooker and use (as suggested) over the next few days.

    Miracle soak!

Just had to get a quick review written, this sitz bath came quickly, smelled wonderful, and performed a small miracle on my daughter! She had a weird skin rash we just couldn’t get rid of. ONE soak in this tub and wow! Her skin was instantly better. I hoped for it, but couldn’t believe it when it happened. A huge thanks to this excellent company. Thank you so much, again.

    Amazing Product

I love this herbal afterbath mix and it smells ~amazing~. I highly recommend getting one! Before you purchase, here are a few tips to know concerning this product! 1) You probably only need one, not two. Go ahead and get two if you want, but I have purchased more than one in the past and have been left with it for the birth of the NEXT baby. 2) You're going to want to get some cheese cloth or a sieve of sorts that lets you steep the mixture and then remove all the dried (well, now wet) herbs. It so no fun having all those little things float in the bathtub with you. 3) This product will stain your bathtub a very light yellow, but don't worry! A bleach bath will remove any and all risidual staining left behind. Just fill your bathtub up to the brim with water and some bleach, and let it sit for 20-30 minutes, and it's white again. Hope this helps some of you lovely ladies out there. Good luck with your babies!

    Messy, but still convenient

The main benefit is having all the beneficial herbs and salt already mixed together for you. It would have taken me a while to collect all the ingredients myself. However, because you're supposed to infuse it in 2 quarts of boiling water, it's difficult to strain out the leaves before using in the tub or sitz bath. I found it helpful to make my own tea bag using cheesecloth and twine, eliminating the need to strain.

    Sitz Bath

Was wonderful for me, I had so much left because I only take 1 bath a week. So I’ve also been able to make baths for after a really rough day for work or workouts. Has good herbs for muscle regeneration, cramp relief and pain. Worth having around the house.
